We know you’ve heard it a hundred times before, and despite how clichéd it sounds, beauty is more than skin deep.

It’s one of the very first lessons we’re taught in life by our mothers and grandmothers, yet more often than not, it’s also one of the first lessons we seem to forget. Each and every woman who wanders this planet is unique, fascinating and completely irreplaceable, and you know what? Each and every one of us is just as beautiful.

We live in a culture that’s obsessed with the quest for perfection, and we all know at times its standards are unattainable and even a little removed from reality, but what really defines beauty? Magazines? Celebrities? Cosmetic companies? No, no and no… YOU define beauty.

Women are inherently beautiful souls, but we’re sensitive ones too. It can be hard to ignore what society is feeding us, which all too often leads to comparison; that all-consuming complex that can wreak havoc on our sense of self worth. ‘I wish I had her thighs’, ‘that top looks better on her than it does on me’, ‘why isn’t my stomach as flat as hers?’… do any of those sound familiar? Stop girl, because you are amazing and you are enough. Our uniqueness is what makes this world such a beautiful and interesting place… can you imagine how monotonous life would seem if we all walked and talked the same?

They say comparison is the thief of joy, so instead of wasting your days wishing for something another woman has, try spending a little bit of time appreciating yourself and loving what you have… you’re pretty special you know! There is nothing more inspiring than a woman who is 100% comfortable in her own skin, and that means not only celebrating the shiny, sparkly things you like about yourself, but also the cute and unique little quirks that really make you, you!

As women, we need to reframe the conversation we’re having with ourselves, because for every quality you’re wishing for in someone else, they’re probably wishing for one of yours too, whether it be your sparkling personality or eternal sense of optimism. The grass isn’t greener on the other side… it’s greener where you water it, so instead of zoning in on what you don’t like about your pale skin or timid nature, focus on finding a reason you love it.

Just like a good heart, true beauty is an enchanting energy that shines from the inside out and it’s the kind that’s enhanced by honesty and authenticity, not filters or make-up. So pour yourself a big glass of self love, it will make you happier and more beautiful than any diet ever will.
